Willy has been playing music for going on 30 years now. Over the years, Big Willy's love for all things music has led him to perform in jazz, bluegrass, country, rock, metal, pop, top 40, and original indie projects. Done it all, you say? Yeah, but his first love has always been The Blues.
Raised in the High Sierras in the tiny town of Bishop, he had to fight for every scrap of musical information he could get. By the age of 16 he was a regular feature at high school dances, local pubs and civic functions all over the Owens Valley and into Nevada. After leaving the Valley he moved to San Diego and became the founder of several heavy metal bands. throughout the eighties, Wearing skin tight spandex pants, leopard print Tony Lama boots and sporting more Aquanet hairspray then any man should ever see in a lifetime he played in all the original music clubs of both San Diego and L.A. counties.
Several thousand beers and corn dogs later he reconnected with his love of old-school traditional blues and began to hone his skill and knowledge of the style. Not adverse in the least to ripping it up like some of Blues legends, you're apt to here BWA invoke the power and the passionof Elmore, James, Albert and B.B. King, Willie Dixon, T-Bone Burnett, Stevie Ray or Walter Trout in his singing and playing. Now he's here to share the blues with y'all. Bigger, badder and better than ever.
BWA's current favorite guitar is his ash Stratocaster played through his Mesa Boogie Mark IV head. "Tones to heal the sick and raise the dead fo sho!"
