Playin' The Blues in the Central Valley
Visalia, California
Ken R
Ken's bass playing roots start in and around the city of Chicago, where he started holding down the low end about the fifth grade when his band instructor, with a wild and deranged gleam in his eye, dispatched him to the back of the room to be the tuba player.

Oh, the humanity.

Ever the glutton for punishment, Ken also took piano lessons from the local old maid. Nerd you say? Well, yeah, but.

Sufficiently traumatized, Ken headed west and eventually landed in the Golden State, where the Ooom Pah Pah of his youth, and the thrill of making music, called to him like a thunderbolt from the sky in the form of a Fender Precision bass guitar.

Ken is self-taught, finally realizing some of the benefits from his misguided musical youth, and now has about 15 years of bass playing experience, give or take. You wouldn't have heard of any of the bands he's been in, so really, what's the point of listing them? All you really need to know is that he loves to play and play some more, and is happiest when he's laying down the bottom line for The Blues, R&B, Reggae and good old fashioned Rock-N-Roll.

Ken thumps basses from Lakland and Elrick, two fabulous bass builders from his hometown of Chicago, and of course, the holy grail, a Fender Precision strung up with old, dead flatwounds. A discriminating gear-ho to be sure, he also swears by Euphonic Audio amplification.
